We’ve been working hard on color recognition the last few weeks. So far we’ve really emphasized red, blue and yellow, but we’ll be getting to the others soon enough. As we get ready to ‘work’ on them some more, I wanted to share one of the games that I made last year for my, then, kindergartener. Well, it’s not just one actually. It’s eight different card games for practicing color recognition.
Very simple games that preschool and kindergarten kids can play. I know because we’ve played them.
You can find all of the directions on these pictures. In general, these are all games that most people are familiar with.
We just added a little twist.
Instead of number cards, we used picture and word cards that correspond to eight very familiar colors.
For kids who aren’t ready to read yet, simply use the picture cards.
For those who are beginning to read, but need some support, you can use the word cards that are color-coded.
And for those who’ve got that reading thing all figured out….use the word cards in black.
