Connect Screen Time with Pretend Play

Littlest Pet Shop toys have been literally following us around the world as our 2nd daughter fell in love with them almost 9 years ago. They were small enough to be packed into the suitcases when we moved to Europe… and then back again. While Rissa has outgrown them, they have become very important to our youngest daughter as she works on her language skills. Shiloh started watching Littlest Pet Shop about a year ago and I love listening to her create her own imaginative play conversations between the pets. It has been way to connect screen time with pretend play.

As Littlest Pet Shop has been passed down through 3 of our daughters, our littlest one is super excited to get some new Pet Shop toys for Christmas, like the Pawrista Cafe and the ever important, Littlest Pet Shop! While hand-me-downs are great, I always feel like the kids should have something new that is all their own. Plus, the Littlest Pet Shop can hold up to 30 pets, so it is a great for engaging in pretend play with all of the pets that she has.

The multi-level Littlest Pet Shop is the ultimate hangout for pet friends — the kids love that it is part store- part playground, with the fun slide and the hamster wheel in the wall.

The Pawrista Cafe is great for kids who love to sing!

Their pets can sing and put on a show for all their friends who are chilling on the couch or at the cafe table.

Each animal and play set comes with the new Deco Bits, which are little thought bubbles, or an accessory. With the Deco Bits the animals can express their own “thoughts”. It’s also a great way for me to incorporate wh- questions into play with Shiloh. “What is the dog thinking?” “Why does the cat want coffee?” Which will ultimately end in a discussion of how much Mom likes coffee and may result in Mom brewing of a new pot of coffee…

Great conversation starters!

They will be adding 40 new pets this year and I know that I will have a little girl begging for the Puffin that is due to be released in the spring.

You don’t have to be squeezing everything you own into a suitcase and heading out to Europe to fall in love with these little pets!
