Over the past few years I have struggled with buying my kids presents for Christmas. It’s not that we were short on money, but it just seems so pointless to put another toy in their bedroom that is just going to get broken, forgotten or pushed to the side when they want something new. We’ve made a focus on buying gifts that would last, but the same thing happens. This year I wanted to do something different. So I enlisted the help of some fantastic bloggers and we’ve put together a printable QR code craft book, so that you can create your own craft kit for gift that can be used over and over.
This craft book contains 8 crafts that most kids can do and most of them can be done with minimal supervision (depending on the child).
None of them require specialty materials, so you can easily find the materials at a craft store or grocery store.
To assemble the book:
Print the two pages with the activity cards
Laminate if desired for durability
Cut out the activity cards (for a total of 8 cards)
Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each card
Put the cards on a book ring
List of materials to create the craft kit:
Black colored rice ( or black beans)
Gold Pipe Cleaners
Business Card Magnets
Zip top bag
You do not need a large amount of any of these items, so you can buy a package and separate the items to create multiple gifts. Money saver!!
To use the QR Code craft book the recipient will scan the code to go to a blog post (kid-friendly) with the complete directions.
If you have never used a QR Code before, never fear, simply do a search for “QR Code Reader” in the store on your smart phone. There are several great free options. After downloading the app, open it and position your phone so that the QR code (the square with the funky dots) is in the center of the viewing area. Just like the checkout at the grocery store, your phone will automatically scan the code. Then it will take you to the original craft directions.
