Practicing Alphabetical Order has never been so fun as when kids get involved with this engaging and slightly competative ‘WAR’ card game! This is great for small groups because they will work together to put each card in alphabetical order while they try to win all the cards!
12 Unique sets of words cards with varying skill levels:
Alphabetizing to the first letter
Alphabetizing to the second letter
Alphabetizing to the third letter
This provides many opportunities for the kids to practice without using the same words every time. Since your kids will be begging to play, this is a great way to give them a game they can play independently, while building their skills.
Utilizes common word groups such as: CVC, colors, numbers, family, Dolch Pre-Primer Sight words and more. All words that are easy for new readers, so that they are not distracted from learning while they try to figure out what a word is.
The Alphabetical Order card game is played as a traditional game of “War”
Playing Alphabetical Order “War”
-Divide cards evenly among two players.
-Place cards face down in a stack
-Players each turn over one card at the same time
-Player with the word that comes FIRST in alphabetical order takes b-both cards and adds them to the bottom of their pile
-In case of tie, each player lays down three cards face down and then turns the third card. First in alphabetical order wins all the cards.
-Play continues as time allows or one player runs out of cards
Also included is a recording sheet on which students select ten words from the set, alphabetize, and record.
