Acorn Counting Cards for Fall
My daughter has an obsession with squirrels. Which is easy to indulge in our neighborhood filled with oak trees. The squirrels are constantly running around and it has been so fun to watch them. These acorn counting cards are perfect for using in the fall as the squirrels are gathering their nuts. Just be sure that if you use real acorns that you leave plenty for the real squirrels! These are a great addition to our themed counting card collection!
Materials needed for Acorn Counting Cards:
Paper and/or card stock
Acorns
Laminating pouches and laminator
We’ve seen squirrels gathering nuts for the winter, building nests and having a game of “Tag” every now and then. We’ve even had baby squirrels follow us (at a safe distance) on our walks. Our favorite thing is when they sit on our front porch and have a little snack, so we can watch them through the glass door.
To prep: Print and laminate the acorn counting cards (download below).
To use: Have your child cover the pictures of the acorns on the counting cards with the correct number of acorns.
These cards are perfect for new learners who are not ready for independent counting. The kids simply cover each acorn picture on the card as they are counting. That way they know when to stop for each number.
Try all of our themed counting cards!
Squirrels are a great topic to learn about preparation, planning and needs of animals for winter. Use these cards to practice counting and then enjoy one of our other squirrel and fall activities.
