Letter E for Elephant Craft
I often pretend to be an old granny who has lost her hearing when I teach the sound that short e makes! “Ehhh? Wadya say? I can’t hear you, dearie!” Young learners think this is hilarious, but more importantly, it can help the sound stick. This cute elephant craft will do the same! It gives children an anchor point in their brains to draw on when they encounter letter e. When you teach the letters of the alphabet it requires lots of time, activities, and patience! While some kids will pick up on letters and sounds quite quickly, others will need repetition. Varied repetition! Kids don’t want to see the same activities over and over. When you can keep learning fresh for preschoolers, it feels more like playing than learning and they will soon know all of their letters with automaticity.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Uppercase E Letter Craft
Step One:
Print the template page on printer paper. Choose the colored version or black-and-white.
Teacher Tip: Substitute cardstock or construction paper if desired.
Step Two:
Cut each piece of the template out.
Teacher Tip: If students are coloring, I would have them color first, then cut.
Step Three:
Using a glue stick and step-by-step guidance, piece the elephant together by gluing the eyes, trunk, ear, and tail pieces to the uppercase E.
Teacher Tip: One thing to point out to students here is that the eyes are going on TOP of the E, while the ear, trunk, and tail look best when glued BEHIND the letter E!
