It seems like every holiday is an excuse for kids to have candy. I’ve always found it amusing that we try to avoid candy any other time, but when a holiday rolls around the sweets are overflowing. Instead of eating ALL of the candy, I like to use it for math games. Of course, the kids will eat the candy while they are working, but at least all that extra energy is going to good use…lol! This free printable candy jar roll and count dice game for preschoolers is a great way to work on counting and number recognition while using up some of that leftover candy. And it works for any holiday!

We love this fun set of foam dice from Lakeshore and Learning Resources has a similar set that would work great as well. I prefer these dice sets over a regular 6-sided die because you can practice more numbers by using a 10 or 20-sided die.
