3 Free Printable Gingerbread Shapes Activities
Here’s a fun set of free shape printables for preschool and kindergarten for teaching all about shapes, in a fun gingerbread theme. We’ve had so much fun with our other shape printables and activities that I just had to make one specifically for winter.
This is a really fun way to introduce all of the basic shapes. We included shapes, ‘real life’ pictures. It really helps kids to see that shapes are all around them and to identify them in the world.

Gingerbread Shape Game Supplies:
- Paper
- Paper Fastener
- Scissors or Paper Cutter
- Paper clip
- Scrapbook paper

Memory-matching game
This can be used as an independent matching activity or as a concentration game for finding the pairs.
I print all of my memory games on the white side of scrapbook paper so that they are not see-through, but you can also use card stock or put a sticker on the back of each card.
Spin & Cover game
We love spin & cover games! To assemble, simply add a brad and paper clip to the center of the spinner and you’re ready to go!
As the spinner lands on the different shapes, you can cover them with a button or other place marker. You can find the directions for using it as a partner Bump! game here.
This set actually includes 2 spin & cover games! One with simple shapes and one with more complex shapes like octagons!
Shape Clip Cards
This game helps children with the real life shapes. Each card can help them identify an object that is classified as a certain shape.
These can be laminated for extended use and use clothes pins to clip on the correct answer. If only using them one time, a dobber could mark the correct answer or the correct answer could be circled. I suggest laminating and using multiple times, though.

Are you doing the pencil / paper clip method? You could try holding the lead side down or possibly a bigger paper clip. Hope that helps.
