As a preschool teacher, I love using Christmas themed activities because they’re a fun way for kids to learn and grow during one of the best seasons of the year!   These activities help children get creative, practice their fine motor skills, and expand their vocabulary and language skills. 

Through activities like crafting, games, and sensory bins, they can also learn about sharing and working together!  Christmas activities are a wonderful chance to create lasting memories, and support children’s emotional and social development in a joyful, hands-on way!

Benefits of Christmas Themed Activities:

Supports Sensory Development:  Christmas themed activities (especially arts and crafts projects) typically have materials of various textures, which is amazing for sensory exploration.  Christmas activities can also be full of sounds, smells, and sights that can help with sensory exploration and development for kids!

Structure and Consistency:  Christmas is normally quite the busy time of year for most families!  While this can be fun and exciting for children, it can also cause a disruption in their normal routine and could make some children feel anxious.  Involving kids in some type of daily Christmas activity can be a great way to provide some structure and consistency during a busy (but wonderful!) time of year.

I love playing games with preschoolers for so many reasons!  Most of the time they are easy to set up (these ones I’m about to share with you are!), a great way to teach taking turns and work on social skills, and they are so good for fine motor skills!  Rolling dice, picking up cards, and spinning spinners are amazing for helping to strengthen the muscles in little hands and fingers.  There are two different games in these Christmas Tree Matching Activities for Preschoolers and I know your kids are just going to love both of them!
