Making the Letter T is for Tiger with Preschoolers
Kids are going to love this adorable tiger, and it will give them an important anchor in their brains when trying to recall what sound the letter T makes. It’s super easy to just print this activity!
If you want your students to practice coloring, use the black and white version. If you’re crunched for time, or would rather focus on the letter and the sound it makes, then simply print in color and that eliminates the task of coloring!
Other options include pasting the T tiger on a background piece of paper or using large craft sticks to turn the letter T tiger into a puppet of sorts.

How to Make the Uppercase Letter T Tiger
Step One:
Choose black and white or color, then print the version you like.
Step Two:
If you chose the black and white version, allow kids to color the parts of the tiger before cutting them out.
Teacher Tip: When possible, provide a finished product for students to see before they begin the project.
Step Three:
Cut around the edges of the letter T, tigers ears, mouth, and tail.
Step Four:
Finally, assemble the tiger and glue the pieces together with a glue stick. If you want to, you can have kids glue the tiger onto a piece of construction paper as a background.
Teacher Tip: Consider your students’ needs for assembling the tiger. Some will be able to look at the example and create it the same way. Others will need step-by-step guidance.
Yay! T for Tiger is Complete. What Now?
I like to keep post each example of my letter craft as we do them, gradually adding to the alphabet as the school year goes on. But, I do send the letter crafts home with students with a tip for parents to keep them displayed at home if they can. However, you definitely could keep all the letter crafts and assemble them into books for each student once the alphabet is complete!
How to Modify the Letter Craft
Looking for ways to modify for all learners, or really make this craft your own? Try these ideas:
- Offer Pre-Cut Pieces: For children who struggle with cutting, provide pre-cut pieces of the tiger parts. This allows them to focus on coloring and assembling, ensuring they can still participate without frustration.
- Simplify or Add Details: Modify the complexity of the craft based on the child’s skill level. For younger or less experienced children, simplify the tiger design with fewer details. For advanced learners, encourage them to add extra features like stripes, eyes, or a tail to enhance the craft.
- Provide Adaptive Tools: Use adaptive tools such as thicker crayons or easy-grip scissors for children with fine motor difficulties. This helps them engage with the craft more comfortably.
- Incorporate Sensory Elements: Add tactile materials like felt, textured paper, or googly eyes to the craft. This modification supports sensory learners and adds an additional layer of engagement.
