I don’t know about you but whenever my students (or my own children) are acting silly, they affectionately get called a “goofy goose”. It’s so funny to hear them say back, “No, you’re a goofy goose!” with a big grin on their face. If you have a whole class of ‘silly’ or ‘goofy’ geese, it’s a great idea to have them practice the letter G with our uppercase Letter G Craft.
This cute little birdie is a fun way to learn the letter and letter sound, as well as create a goose that won’t chase you or make a face on your floor.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the Letter G Craft:
Step one:
First decide if you want your child to complete the letter g craft using the black and white template or the pre-colored template. Gather items and print the template you choose.
Step Two:
If using the black and white template, color the Goose and letter G parts. Precut the project before hand if desired. Some of our children still need to work on fine motor skills, yet need to be closely monitored while cutting. Arrange the pieces before gluing.
Step Three:
Use glue or tape to join the pieces of the goose together. Display the project or use as a learning prop.
Great! So What’s Next?

What will my Preschooler Learn From the Letter G Craft?
Yes, I know these geese are adorable, but what is my kid getting out of this? Great question. Let’s skip the educational ‘jargon’ and lay it out simply.
Fine Motor Skills: Fine motor skills focus on the muscles and bones primarily found in hands and fingers. This includes coloring (gripping the crayon), cutting (moving fingers at the same time), and gluing (pinching the glue and moving it on the paper). Practicing these skills help children learn to button their pants, zip their coats, and write their names. Continue practicing fine motor skills with these alphabet fine motor beginning sounds cards.
Self-Image: It’s important for children to feel good about themselves and their work. Positive self-confidence gives children the ‘get up and go’ to try new things. Even when the outcome doesn’t quite look like you expected it to, put on a huge smile and lay the positive reinforcement on thick!
Letter Recognition: The letter G goose craft can help reinforce how the capital letter G is formed using curves and lines. Children can practice tracing the letter using their finger or a pencil/crayon. Introduce the sound of the letter G and have your child think of additional words with the same sound. Reinforce tracing the letter with this fun alphabet ant activity.

Frequently Asked Questions
These are frequently asked questions about the letter G craft:
What letters should I start with when teaching the alphabet?
While there is no set order for teaching letters or letter sounds, I prefer to teach letters that relate to children the most. Starting with the letters in their names, it’s important to first teach letters that are in many words that are familiar to and mean something to our kiddos. Letters in mom, dad, names of siblings or friends, pet’s names and favorite characters are great places to move to after their first name.
Can this be adapted for toddlers?
Of course! The pieces can be precut by an adult and model how to do each step for your child. Your toddler can practice coloring or glue small pieces onto the letter G.
